It’s funny how you view the world when you’re a kid. I can remember when I was 10 years old and getting one of those dog carriers for my birthday from my Aunt Cindy. She was always giving me and my sisters unique and cool gifts that we actually wanted, so when I got this from her I knew it was something that I had to use. After all, this is the woman who had given me my first pair of sunglasses, my first CD, and my first leather wallet.
I use to always take my dog walking to the park, where I’d throw him my Frisbee (another gift that I adored which Aunt Cindy had gotten for me) for hours on end. But now I “carried” him in his new “carrier”. I did this for almost a week before my mom noticed. She had to explain that her sister got me this gift because she knew how much I loved my dog and that I wanted to take him with us to Niagara Falls this summer. Ever since then the site of people carrying animals in pet carriers makes me laugh and think about how differently a child sees the world than an adult does.
